Fishin’ for the Mission Draws 168 Anglers

The Mission of Hope Ice Fishing Contest was a HUGE success! Our first ever contest was held on January 23, 2010. Paul and Sue O’Connell who coordinated this event and the spaghetti dinner afterwards were elated with the results. They had hope for 30-40 participants and ended up with 168! CHAZY LAKE — The First Fishin’ for the Mission Ice-Fishing Derby was held Saturday, January 23 on Chazy Lake with a 168 anglers entered. The tournament benefitted the North Country Mission of Hope for Nicaragua.

Todd Hall took first in the Pike category with a catch of 23.87 pounds, believed to be the largest great northern taken from the lake. Randy Rascoe came in second with a catch of 6.2 pounds and Tim Whitelaw, third, 5.82.

Scott LaMay won the lake trout category with an 8.9-pounder. Mike Holmes was runner-up with a 7.94-pound laker and Paul Petrashune, third, 7.42.

Dan Patterson landed the biggest perch, 1.08 pounds. Jared St. Phillips took the next two places with catches of .59 and .50 pounds.
