At Saranac High School, there is a program called Career Internship Exploration Program (CEIP), where a senior student can choose a career field of their choice during the fall semester. After Sara LoTemplio’s experiences on Mission #41 in February 2011, she realized that she was very interested in humanitarian work, as well as international affairs and decided to pursue an internship with Sister Debbie, Executive Director of the Mission of Hope.

Aside from shadowing Sister and seeing what she does on a day to day basis, Sara will be completing a few other tasks. One project that she is currently working on is tracking down the contact information for all people who went on Mission trips in the past to put into an on-line database. Sara will also be working on compiling outreach data from past Missions, such as the amount of Nicaraguans encountered on each trip, what was accomplished on each outing, etc. She will also be working at the packing facility, MOHtown, to help with container shipments, and to observe what goes into packing and sending supplies to Nicaragua. Lastly, she is assisting the Grant Writing Committee on a new grant application.
Sara mentioned “If it is like any of my other experiences with the Mission, I know it will be hard work, but yet extremely rewarding.”
