Despite the cancellation of our annual golf tournament due to the remnants of Hurricane Debby, the Mission of Hope stood strong. The wet weather may have disrupted our plans, but it couldn't dampen the spirit of our volunteers and players.
With the help of our partners, Steve and Joann Farrel from McSweeny's and Dee Vivian from the Barracks, we were able to offer an opportunity for tournament registrants to come to the course and pick up their gift bags, visit and have some McSweeny Michigans and sides from the Barracks. We also offered an invitation to view and buy raffle tickets for the 29 baskets provided by our wonderful volunteers and donors, as well as Balloon Pop (Golf ball Grab), where we had over 100 chances to win donated gift cards (and sold every opportunity!) and a silent auction.
In true Mission of Hope fashion, what could have been a lost opportunity to help those we serve became a blessed event.
Over half of the golfers showed up to share their time, kind words, company, treasure, and support. It became a valuable opportunity to spend time with the people who support us year after year, an opportunity we might never have had except for the tournament being canceled.
While we never wish to cancel an event, the outcome of this situation was truly remarkable. It's a perfect example of the Mission of Hope's legacy of finding hope in what can seem to be a hopeless situation.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of you who supports the Mission of Hope. Your dedication and generosity bring hope from the North Country to Nicaragua and beyond. You are truly amazing!
The Golf Committee would also like to allow a broader group to buy a chance to purchase chances to win the fantastic gift baskets.

Let me know how many sheets you would like—26 chances for $20.00—and I will email your ticket number. I will put your tickets in the jar for the baskets you choose. You can send a check or pay by Venmo or credit card (see the donation button and place golf gift baskets in the memo).
We will hold the raffle open until Thursday, make the picks on Friday, and then notify the winners and arrange to get them the baskets.
